Washington Examiner adds new hires

The Washington Examiner is welcoming some new faces this month. Tim Cavanaugh joins on January 12 as news editor, where he will oversee an expanding news desk. Winner of two Los Angeles Press Club awards, Cavanaugh is currently news editor at National Review, and previously served as executive editor of The Daily Caller and web editor for the LA Times.

At The Daily CallerAlex Pappas reacts, "Congrats to @bigtimcavanaugh!"

"Thanks. Proud & happy to join @dcexaminer. Best to @RichLowry & @NRO," Cavanaugh replies.

Meanwhile, Paige Winfield Cunningham (far right) also starts on January 12 as health care reporter. Cunningham joins from Politico, where she's wrapping up as healthy policy reporter.

"Excited to announce I'm joining @dcexaminer on Monday! I'll still be covering all things health care," she shares.

Tara Copp, who does not appear to be on Twitter but numbers among the original embedded reporters in Iraq in 2003, will also be joining as a defense reporter.

Back at The Examiner, Zack Colman announces, "Three cheers for @dcexaminer - welcome to three new hires @pw_cunningham (healthcare), @bigtimcavanaugh (news editor) & Tara Copp (defense)."
