Bloomberg exec editor Hays departs

Bloomberg News senior executive editor Laurie Hays (immediate right) has left the news organization for destinations unknown.  No comment on Twitter from Hays or the outlet just yet, but Hays reportedly was "passed over" recently for the role of editor-in-chief, which instead went to The Economist's John Micklethwait.

"Whoa," reacts Politico media watcher Dylan Byers.

At Bloomberg, the response was swift and sorrowful. "Really sorry to see @lauriehays11 leave @bloombergnews. She's a true journalist and champion of really great stories," praises special projects editor Dawn Kopecki.

Health/science editor Crayton Harrison tweets that Hays "pushed us all to do more & set our sights high. We're going to miss her."

In the wake of her departure, Laura Zelenko (far right) has already been instated as interim senior executive editor for beat reporting.

"Congrats @lszelenko. I have a feeling you're going to be getting a lot of new followers, even before #FF," predicts Bloomberg's Michelle Cortez.
