LAT deputy mobile editor joins BuzzFeed

Laura E. Davis of the Los Angeles Times is the latest recruit to BuzzFeed's burgeoning news app team. Previously deputy mobile editor for the LA Times, Davis starts next week on the news app's editorial side.

"Some news: Today is my last day with @latimes. Working here has been a wonderful experience and a true pleasure...But I am excited for my next adventure: I join the @BuzzFeedNews app team next week!" she tweeted Thursday.

Her LAT colleagues seemed reluctant to lose her:

"I hate goodbyes. Teary (but super fond) farewell to @lauraelizdavis who just left," reacts Michelle Maltais, executive producer for interactive video there.

Meanwhile, at BuzzFeed:

"Exciting #teamnewsapp hiring news: welcoming @lauraelizdavis to the crew, representing that important LA action," announces app editor Stacy-Marie Ishmaeladding, "For those keeping track, the editorial team for the @BuzzFeedNews #teamnewsapp@millie @samkirkland @aaronmedwards @lauraelizdavis."

"Whirlwind day with so many emotions. Thank you to @latimes for the heartfelt goodbye and to @BuzzFeedNews for the warm welcome," Davis concludes.
