Guardian US poaches two for politics

Feb 11, 2015

The Guardian US has snared both Sabrina Siddiqui and Ben Jacobs as political reporters. Siddiqui joins from the Huffington Post, where she has also been a politics reporter, while Jacobs is finishing up in the same role at The Daily Beast.

"Thank you everyone for the well wishes and kind words on @GuardianUS! Siddiqui tweets, later adding, "So now that it’s official I’m joining The Guardian my Gmail calendar automatically switched to GMT. How did they do that?!"

"Congrats and cheerio to my deskmate @SabrinaSiddiqui, who is taking her talents to@GuardianUS," Ryan J. Reilly with HuffPo responds to the news.

Meanwhile, Jacobs tweets, "Thank you to everyone for all their well wishes on my new job with @GuardianUS. I really appreciate it" before slyly following up with "Jon Stewart has the second biggest job news today . . . after @SabrinaSiddiqui of course."

Tim Mak seems to be taking it well, tweeting, "#ff My good friend @Bencjacobs, who is leaving us for The Guardian, but who will probably continue to annoy me equally on Twitter" then jokingly added, "Also, due to @Bencjacobs' departure, guess who has to pick up the slack on the War of 1812 beat?"

Don’t forget - if you change your job in journalism or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. News job changes only, please! Thanks!
