Remembering Dori Maynard

Dori Maynard, president of the Robert C. Maynard institute for Journalism Education and widely considered the "champion" of media diversity, has died of lung cancer at just 56. When asked what her middle initial "J" stood for, she once answered, "Journalism." Fusion's Latoya Peterson beautifully reflects, "I am because she was. Rest in peace @djmaynard. I love you. I hope you found Charles." Washington Post's Wesley Lowery reacts, "Heartbroken by the news of Dori Maynard's death. A fierce, unrepentant advocate for media diversity. An amazing woman." But Michelle Guido tweets, "Dori Maynard's death is a tremendous loss to #journalism. But legacy - a champion of diversity - lives on."
