NYT's Vega goes broadcast with CNN

CNN Politics has poached New York Times reporter Tanzina Vega to focus on the technological and civil rights aspects of the political beat. Vega has most recently served as the metro desk's Bronx courthouse reporter for the Times and, most notably prior to that, a correspondent on race.

"Job news! After 8 years at The New York Times, I have accepted a position as a digital correspondent with CNN Politics," she tweets, before continuing, "In my new role at @CNNPolitics I will be covering the intersection of technology, politics and civil rights leading up to 2016. ... Also politics beyond the beltway, from grassroots movements to civil rights to hashtag activism on social media. ... Working at @nytimes has been an honor. I am grateful to the editors, producers and fellow reporters who have supported me along the way."

Executive editor Rachel Smolkin chimes in, "I'm thrilled to announce that @tanzinavega will join @CNNPolitics to cover the intersection of politics and technology. Welcome to the team!"
