Dickerson to host Face the Nation next

Face the Nation will get a new face after several decades: John Dickerson will replace CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer as the show's host. Currently the political director for CBS as well as a political correspondent for Slate, Dickerson has held his position at CBS for about four years and already has filled in as host over that time.

"Today on @FaceTheNation we've got a great lineup & we will announce who is going to take my place... Tune in!" Schieffer had teased the news yesterday.

Reaching out to Dickerson, NBC's Chuck Todd with Meet the Press tweets, "Welcome to the weekends and early Sunday alarm clock settings," to which Dickerson responds, "Thank you Chuck! Yes, catching the newspaper Sundays when they throw it at the house."

"And to think, I always thought @JohnDickerson was just another pretty face on Twitter," reflects with New York Times Magazine.

"Welcome to the Sunday fray @johndickerson! Filling big boots of @bobschieffer. Congrats!" tweets ABC's George Stephanopoulos.

Dickerson replies, "Thank you @GStephanopoulos. Yes, @bobschieffer boots big enough to outfit with motor and tour the Potomac."
