Gabriel Sherman joins NY Mag full-time

New York Magazine has made Gabriel Sherman national affairs editor. Starting May 1, Sherman will cover politics and business in addition to his previous beats and will write a regular column for the print magazine as well as a weekly column on the web. Sherman has recently become known for authoring the New York Times best selling biography of Roger Ailes, The Loudest Voice in the Room. He has been a contributing editor for NY Mag since 2008, covering the media business, real estate, and Wall Street, to name a few areas.

"Excited that @gabrielsherman is becoming national affairs editor at @NYMag, expanding his beat to include politics," tweets NY Mag's Lauren Starke.

For some, the news of the appointment appears bittersweet.

Tony Dokoupil with NBC News admits, "I'm always kind of depressed when good writers and reporters become editors. But great job, no doubt."
