BuzzFeed poaches from WaPo, FT
BuzzFeed has recruited Washington Post 's Anup Kaphle as senior world editor and Financial Times' Borzou Daragahi as a Middle East correspondent. Currently digital foreign editor at the Post, Kaphle's role at BuzzFeed is a newly created one.
"Hi all: After an incredible 5½ years at The Washington Post, I’m leaving the newspaper to join BuzzFeed as a Senior World Editor," Kaphle tweets, elaborating on Facebook "Although I’m sad to leave an institution that has helped me grow tremendously as a journalist, I leave here very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with some of the finest reporters and editors in the world. More specifically, the last four years working at the foreign desk have been the most exciting and rewarding experience of my life." He concludes, "Oh, and goats are the new cats."
All right, so Kaphle clearly has a thing with goats. We can dig it.
Meanwhile, Daragahi is finishing up as FT's Middle East and North Africa correspondent.
"After 3.5 years at @FT, I will be joining @BuzzFeed this summer as Middle East correspondent," he tweets, adding on Facebook, "As a correspondent for BuzzFeed, I will continue to cover the Arab world and Turkey along with the excellent and gifted Mike Giglio, but also begin writing on Iran again after a hiatus of several years. Big thanks to Sheera Frenkel for recommending me to BuzzFeed as her replacement and to BuzzFeed foreign editor Miriam Elder for cheerfully tolerating and replying to my epic emails filled with annoying and elaborate questions over the last few weeks."
