CNN's Hamby switches to Snapchat

Apr 28, 2015

CNN's political reporter Peter Hamby is leaving the journalism industry to join Snapchat as Head of News. "The network is characterizing Hamby's move as a changing role within CNN, which is true insofar as the network's partnership with Snapchat will allow him to continue as a CNN contributor on air and online through 2016. But Hamby's official role will be with Snapchat," writes Politico's Dylan Byers.

"Uh oh book publishers are gonna have to figure out Snapchat for real now," realizes Publishers Lunch's Sarah Weinman.

"Talking about ephemeral news cycles," tweets Rodrigo Orihuela with Bloomberg News.

"If you were starting a political reporting team for TV, @PeterHambyCNN is a top 5 pick--helluva hire @Snapchat," praises NBC's Luke Russert.

It's enough to make Washington Post's Cory Haik call it "the @BuzzFeedBen goes to buzzfeed moment for @Snapchat."
