WCP gets new editor

The Washington City Paper will soon welcome Steve Cavendish as editor. Currently the news editor and restaurant critic for Nashville Scene and Nashville Post, Cavendish once edited Nashville’s own City Paper until it was closed in 2013. He also recently assisted in editing WCP's "best-of" issue.

He began on Twitter, "So, I have some news ..."

"I'd say @scavendish has big shoes to fill, but I only wear a size 9," cracks Cavendish's predecessor Mike Madden, who recently left the position to join the Washington Post as deputy editor of Outlook and PostEverything.

"Very excited to see the @scavendish era of @wcp, glad bearded-editor tradition will continue," chimes in Slate's Jonathan L. Fischer.

Meanwhile, Yahoo's Joshua Cooper reacts, "One of the finest journalists I know. Great decision, great editor, great human being. Congrats Steve!"
