LAT puts Lauter on campaign beat

May 07, 2015

The Los Angeles Times has placed David Lauter in charge of the publication's 2016 presidential campaign. Currently the Washington bureau chief, Lauter is a great fit for the role, having already covered four presidential campaigns for the LA Times.

"We stand before you today to declare that @DavidLauter, @latimes/@chicagotribune DC buro chief will lead 2016 presidential campaign coverage," the LA Times Comms Dept announced on Twitter.

"Couldn't imagine a tougher - or menschier - competitor," reacts NYT's presidential campaign editor David Halbfinger.

Lauter responds, "Aw, gee. That's very sweet. I hope to live up to it."
