Michael Gold trades WaPo for NYT

Continuing to stack its social deck, the New York Times has lured Michael Gold into its lofty ranks only a year after he joined the Washington Post. This only bodes good things for the Times' social strategy, of course. Gold's last day is May 29.

"So, yeah, some news," Gold tweets, using several emoji to announce his next destination.

"Sorry to lose you to the Statue of Liberty Clocks," jokes WaPo's Drew Harwell.

The news was met with a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth at the Post, where they were also mourning the simultaneous loss of social media producer Tim Herrera (our write-up on his move, here!).

For instance, Wesley Lowery responded by demanding, "Everyone unfollow @migold & @TimHerrera who are dead to me (and who I already miss desperately)."

Gold jokingly replies, "thank you wesley i look forward to you ignoring my snaps from a distance."

Don’t forget - if you change your job in journalism or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. News job changes only, please! Thanks!
