Guardian's Gibson to head BuzzFeed UK

The legendary Janine Gibson will join BuzzFeed later this summer as the editor in chief of its UK team. Until recently a senior editor at The Guardian, Gibson departed the newspaper recently after being passed over for its EIC position.

"V excited to join Ben & Luke @buzzfeed and work with the fab team. I now have 8 wks to watch GoT and learn to gif," she jokes.

"SO EXCITED to finally not have this secret — @janinegibson will be the editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed UK," shares executive news editor Shani Hilton.

World editor Miriam Elder chimes in, "@janinegibson is the new editor in chief of @BuzzFeedUK. No words can capture my excitement, so :) :) :)"

Meanwhile, at the Guardian, James Ball covers all his bases by tweeting, "Not sure who to congratulate here, @BuzzFeedUK or @janinegibson. So…well done both?"
