NYT's Bill Carter joins CNN on media

Former New York Times media reporter Bill Carter has ended his short-lived retirement to join CNN as a contributor. Carter will provide analysis on media across CNN's platforms. Carter previously served as a reporter on TV for the Times for more than 25 years.

"Big thanks to everyone who offered kind words today on news of my joining CNN as contributor. Glad to still have something to contribute," he tweets.

"Congratulations, @wjcarter, on your new gig at @CNN. You and @brianstelter reunited ... "and it feels so good," to quote the song?" reacts former Timesean Stuart Elliot.

Meanwhile, Stelter's wife Jamie Stelter with NY1 chimes in, "Fun to see @brianstelter + @wjcarter reunited on CNN. Somewhere, David Carr's getting a kick out of this. "Who put these guys mugs on TV?"
