Featured journalist: Joan Morris

Today's featured journalist is Joan Morris, a pets and wildlife columnist and garden writer for the Bay Area News Group. You'll regularly find Morris's bylines in the San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune. This longtime reporter and features writer also happens to be the founder of "Our Garden," a demonstration garden operated in conjunction with the Contra Costa Master Gardeners, which donates thousands of fresh produce to help feed the hungry. She is also the editor of the monthly special sections "The Good Life," directed at those 50 and older. As for the most common misconception about her beat as a columnist, it's this "That I can solve all of the issues of the world." But if you take a peek at her Muck Rack portfolio here, you'll find she's made a decent dent in the world's promises--everything from keeping cats out of the yard to gardening in California's dry climate!

Remember: If you also want to be featured here (or nominate someone else!), you should 1) set up your own journalist portfolio 2) get verified and 3) let us know by emailing Kirsten.
