CNN World Sport welcomes new anchor

CNN World Sport has named Kate Riley a full-time anchor for the network. Previously a sports freelancer there, Riley impressed the powers-that-be as a contributor, particularly after her coverage of the Women’s World Cup in Canada.

"Some professional news to share with you," she tweets.

"Congrats to @KateRileyCNN, the newest member of the @CNNSport team!" announces CNN International's Lauren Cone.

"Thank you. Honored/ honoured," Riley replies, covering all her bases with both American and British variants of the word.

Back in Ipswich, radio programmer/presenter Paul Morris adds the hashtag #proudoldboss to his reaction, "from small acorns grow..."
