Peston departs BBC for ITV

Oct 05, 2015

BBC's Robert Peston is jumping ship to join ITV News as political editor and host of a brand new Sunday morning talk show. The economics editor's departure reportedly "comes as a blow to the corporation," which attempted to keep him on-board with promises of presenting Newsnight on Thursday evenings.

"Can’t believe we are losing @Peston. Can’t. Won’t. Don’t," reacts colleague Jeremy Vine.

"Wow. End of an era, start of a new one. Good luck @peston!" chimes in contributor Lucy P. Marcus.

And it wasn't just British media who were discussing this job move, either.

"Robert Peston is leaving the @BBC for @ITV, says @guardian ... Even over here we get that that's a big deal," shares NBC's M. Alex Johnson.
