Your career highlight this morning:

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the industry:

  • Welcome back: Errin Haines Whack rejoins the Associated Press to cover urban affairs. Whack has "written extensively on the intersection of race, inequality and politics."
  • Promotion! The New Republic has promoted Ryan Kearney to executive editor for digital, assuming greater responsibility for the publication's digital platforms, spanning web and social. Kearney most recently served as executive web editor, a "(slightly clunky) title that reflected his increased responsibilities" of running TNR's site and shaping its digital presence.
  • Ryu Spaeth will also soon board TNR as deputy editor, overseeing operations of its web site. Spaeth arrives from, where he is finishing up as deputy editor.
