Silvia Killingsworth to lead The Awl

Mar 02, 2016

The Awl hath anointed Silvia Killingsworth as editor beginning in April, when she will take the reins not only of that publication but also The Hairpin, both of which will be relaunching a "revival" at roughly the same time. You already know Killingsworth from her current role as managing editor at The New Yorker

"Some professional news," she tweets, sharing the official post before adding, "You guys, @alexbalk made me an avatar."

"I'm very happy that @silviakillings is leaving the New Yorker to finally make the @awl any good!" quips Choire Sicha, who recently left his post as head of The Awl for Vox.

Freelancer Brendan O'Connor jokes in reply, "RIP the New Yorker though. Sad but I guess it had to happen eventually."

Don’t forget - if you change your job in journalism or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. News job changes only, please! Thanks!
