Journo job moves for Friday

The Daily Dot has just announced a slew of new hires:

  • Jessica Machado joins as lifestyle editor. Prior to joining the Daily Dot, Muchado served as an associate editor at Rolling Stone.
  • Lauren Walker is now senior politics reporter. Walker joins from Newsweek where she covered technology, national security and foreign affairs as a staff writer.
  • April Siese is now weekend editor. Following her world travels as part of Remote Year’s inaugural class and as a longtime contributor to the Daily Dot’s LOL and Geek sections, Siese joins the Dot as weekend editor.
  • Katey Psencik joins the Dot as assistant social media editor. Psencik most recently served as a digital media associate at KLRU-TV, the PBS affiliate in Austin.
  • Jaya Saxena begins May 2 as lifestyle staff writer. Saxena is a longtime contributor known for writing strong narratives based on personal experience.
  • Colette Bennett is now senior geek writer. Bennett honed her skills at CNN and HLN, as well as sites that include Kotaku, Destructoid, and Tomopop, and brings over a decade of journalism experience to the Dot.
