Journo job moves for Friday

Your career highlight for the day:

  • The Huffington Post's co-founder and editor-in-chief is stepping down for good: Arianna Huffington (at right) says she's shifting her focus to her new health and wellness startup, Thrive Global. Talk about the end of an era.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the industry:

  • Best of luck to Michelle Vargas, who's taking on her first English-language on-air position at CBS4 Rio Grande Valley in Harlingen, Texas. You'll find Vargas working their weekday 5, 6 and 10 pm newscasts as a multimedia journalist. She joins from KABC-7 in Los Angeles, where she was a news assistant.
  • Former USA Today reporter and editor Gary Strauss just landed at National Geographic as project manager for branded content. Strauss was among 60 staffers at USA Today who took a buyout last year. Happy to see where you ended up, Gary!
