- Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian is now the 2016-17 Terker Distinguished Fellow at George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs. Now a staff writer at the Post, Rezaian was their Tehran bureau chief and reported on Iran until he was arrested in 2014 and was held in an Iranian prison for more than 18 months. He was released by Iran on Jan. 16 through a deal with the U.S.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the industry:
- Univision promotes Patsy Loris to Executive Vice President of News and Executive News Director. Now charged with overseeing all of the network news programs, Loris previously was promoted to SVP, News and Senior News Director last year.
- Reuters adds Sankalp Phartiyal to its Mumbai bureau. Now covering technology, media and telecommunications, Phartiyal was previously a correspondent covering commodities for the New Delhi bureau.
- Reuters' Mumbai bureau also welcomes Rahul Bhatia, who will cover investigative news. Bhatia was co-founder of the Peepli Project, a storytelling platform and journalism startup.
