Oy this week

How’s Obama doing?

On the current presidential front, Obama Ordered an Intelligence Report on the Russian Election Hacking, according to David Sanger in the New York Times. Don Belt pointed out that this is all happening “As Trump continues to deny Russia's meddling…”

CNN had the news too.

And if you want Politico’s take on it, read Josh Gerstein and Jennifer Scholtes here.

And speaking of President Obama, he’s The Atlantic’s next cover story. Specifically, Ta-Nehisi Coates’ interview. Catherine Green tweeted, “Ahead of a knockout cover story, a teaser -- @tanehisicoates with @potus, ‘The Making of a Black President.’” Craig Newman wrote, “How Obama can pre-judge and disarm a potentially disconcerting situation through use of Jello molds.”

And back to Trump

Jenna Johnson at the Washington Post has an account of what happens when Donald Trump attacks a private citizen on Twitter. Lori Montgomery had a different take on it: “That time @realDonaldTrump attacked an 18-year-old college student on Twitter.”

And in somehow STILL more weird news, Cynthia Littleton got the exclusive in Variety that Donald Trump to Remain Executive Producer on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’. Gideon Resnick reacted to the announcement with: “Ahh yes good.”

When he’s not busy tweeting up a storm, America’s President-elect and his team sent a memo that Catherine Traywick and Jennifer A. Dlouhy from Bloomberg say Hints at Broad Shake-Up of U.S. Energy Policy. The memo seemed to only have solicited more questions. First from Sandy Hendry: “Clean-energy clear out?” Then from Peter Hoskins: “Nuclear Option?”

Oh and the Trump transition team for Energy Department seeks names of employees involved in climate meetings. That from Juliet Eilperin in the Washington Post. Lena Sun put it this way: “Some officials want to know whether civil servants are being targeted by Trump team.”

Also in the Washington Post, Matea Gold brings news that The six donors Trump appointed to his administration gave almost $12 million with their families to his campaign and the party.

In other news…

If Trump’s transition is giving you too much anxiety and you’re planning to protest, there’s some bad news: None of the inauguration protests have their proper permits yet. Here’s why, explains Perry Stein for the Washington Post. Perry Stein went on to tweet: To everyone saying Women's March is barred from Lincoln Memorial: That's not an accurate reading of what's happening.” She added, “This happens every inauguration w/ permits. It's just a big issue this yr b/c there's so many protestors...This would have also happened if Clinton was president.”

At NBC News, Alexander Mccall Smith and Vladimir Banic published the article everyone’s talking about: Fake News: How a Partying Macedonian Teen Earns Thousands Publishing Lies. Mary Murray said what we’re all thinking, “This article left me speechless! More proof of foreign interference in our presidential election.” And Jason Cumming tweeted this outrageous but still true quote from the piece: "Since fake news started, girls are more interested in geeks than macho guys."

And for some hot nonsense to welcome you into the weekend, here’s Claire Landsbaum’s headline from The Cut: Ohio Lawmaker “Never Thought About” Why Women Get Abortions. Jessica Goldstein reacted reasonably, saying: “You've got to be fucking kidding me.” While Stella Bugbee reminded this is “The exact reason we need liberal women leaders.
