Times-Picayune Launches Coastal Reporting Team; Moves and Promotions at Billboard, NBC, Telemundo and W Magazine

In partnership with the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ), the New Orleans Times-Picayune has launched a coastal reporting team dedicated to in-depth coverage of the state’s land loss. Editor Mark Lorando says they intend to “ramp up staffing and use every storytelling tool at our disposal to make sure everyone understands the full scope of the problem.” Environment reporter Mark Schleifstein will lead the team alongside state news editor Drew Broach, and outdoors reporter Todd Masson and photographer/videographer Ted Jackson will contribute. The newspaper also plans to hire two full-time environmental journalists.

Elsewhere, Dave Brooks has joined Billboard as senior correspondent, covering the touring and live entertainment beat. Maya Rodriguez, formerly with Denver's KUSA, has joined NBC News's Miami bureau as a reporter, covering the southern U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean. Miguel Varoni has been promoted to VP and Creative Director of Telemundo Studios and Telemundo International Studios. And at W Magazine, Mia Adorante has been promoted to beauty and health editor for both the print and online publications.
