Nora Naughton is joining The Detroit News as an auto reporter. Most recently, she was a business development reporter at The Stamford (Conn.) Advocate. Before that, she worked as a freelance reporter for Automotive News.

The New York Times has hired two new sports staffers, Kurt Streeter and Marc Stein. Both were previously with ESPN.

And J.J. Gould, previously editor of The Atlantic Online and the Journal of Democracy, has been named editor of The New Republic. He takes over for Eric Bates, who will now serve as the magazine as editor at large.
