Question of the Day

Dec 11, 2017

On Friday, we asked: Fifty years ago the first human heart transplant surgery took place, in Cape Town, South Africa. How many days did the first heart transplant patient live after the surgery?

Answer: 18 days

Congrats to Maureen MacGregor, first to tweet the correct answer. She adds, “I was a kid but remember what a hero Dr. Barnard was - tx Muckers for giving him some love.” Honorable mention to David Alpern, who noted, “18 days later he died from double pneumonia. The new heart had actually functioned normally until his death.”

Your question of the day for today is…Apparently, we may someday need to worry about volcanoes in New England. What is the only continent without an active volcano?
