Currently, I'm the Florida reporter for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. This means I spend March and April in Tallahassee while the state Legislature is in session. The rest of the time, I'm in South Florida, where I cover statewide issues as they relate to our peculiar area of the state.

The "risk protection order" part of Florida's new gun law has been used by police for likely the first time to take someone's guns, and it happened in Broward County, location of the #StonemanDouglas shooting that prompted the law.

What was your first job as a journalist?

I wrote a story for the Colorado Springs Gazette-Telegraph when I was just into college, before journalism school. It was terrible.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

I'd say Raoul Duke, but does he count as "fictional"? If not, I go Spider Jerusalem.
