A baby who had experimental surgery in the womb for a severe spinal defect that can paralyze the legs was born on Friday, kicking his feet. Beautiful boy. Brave parents. Clever doctors. 
It was truly amazing to see brain surgery through 3-D glasses, magnified on a high resolution monitor. Gigantic instruments seemed to pop out of the screen. You felt like you should duck. The patient's doing great.
