The women’s soccer team shut out UC Riverside on Sunday, 1-0. The on-the-road victory brought the team’s unbeaten streak to nine. And thanks to freshman defender Megan Day’s goal, the Titans are 3-0 to start Big West Conference play for the first time since 2013 when the Titans won their first four league matches. Day’s match-winning goal came off a corner in the 49th minute as her first shot attempt hit the crossbar but she was right there for the rebound and buried it to give the Titans the lead.
THE NCAA FINALS Titan high jumper Iesha Hamm is seeded twelfth in a 24-competitor field for Saturday’s 5 p.m. NCAA finals event. Her 1.8 meter jump in the NCAA preliminaries, which in part determined her position, is equal to the highest qualifying height in the field and notably lower than her jump to win the Big West Conference high jump title. The first bar competitors will be challenged to clear will be set at 1.7 meters.
