Industry groups are warning California’s top privacy regulator against imposing new rules governing data policy notices and employee data collection, arguing that businesses are already struggling to comply with the state’s rapidly changing requirements. In to the California Privacy Protection Agency, groups representing tech giants and California businesses asked the regulator to hold off entirely on rulemaking covering the collection and use of employee and applicant personal data.

When the Ruth J. Simmons Quadrangle reopened in mid-October after a five-month closure, passersby likely noticed the newly dedicated Stephen Sondheim Amphitheater. But behind the fences that surrounded the site during its renovation, most of the project did not involve building the amphitheater itself. Roughly two-thirds of the construction project took place underground, according to Paul Dietel, the assistant vice president for planning, design and construction.

BCSC student worker labor union dissolves, citing ‘systemically poor turnout’

Less than two years after its formation, the Third World Labor Organization is disbanding due to “systematically poor turnout,” the union’s leaders wrote in a Tuesday morning email to members that was reviewed by The Herald. The labor union represents about 50 student workers at the Brown Center for Students of Color who announced plans to unionize in February 2024.
