Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first gig as a journalist was as a copy boy. Grunt work, but it infused me with a love of reporting and writing about L.A. crime

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Hands down, Raoul Duke.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Tough one. But probably actor Dean Norris' #FuckYou to several fans who followed him on Twitter after Breaking Bad became popular.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email with a follow up phone call or vice versa.

Why did you become a journalist?

After reading "All the President's Men" as a sophomore in high school, I realized that I wanted to be a reporter. Reading HST confirmed it.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Nope. Father Clemo, my "career advisor" told me there was no future in journalism after "All the President's Men" was published.
