@SolarInMASS That's exactly right. The percentage increase that CA would need to run its fleet as EV is greater, because its current base is lower: 40 million people "only" using 250+ TWh per year currently. The national increase would be lower percentage wise, on a base of 4000 TWh per year.
@PRL_Jones Yes, I address risks to the longer term in Oil Fall. That said, I just reviewed the UK data overnight. After a flat year in 2016, combined wind and solar got right back on the growth path in 2017, reaching a new notch of 17% share of UK electricity. Hard not to be positive!

@cfarndt Sometimes faster than we can process. Of late, most of my contacts agree: we are entering the phase where you've got to update your views at least every 90-120 days. The learning rate is quite a sight.
