FISH Food Bank’s “Volunteers in the plaid aprons” will be Santa’s helpers again this year, but they’ll be handing toys through car windows in a drive-through lane. Picasa GHP FISH Santa will be in a drive-through for many needy children this Christmas season. The Gig Harbor Peninsula FISH food bank is retooling its annual toy drive for coronavirus safety this year. Instead of a “store” where families can shop for toys, there will be a drive-through lane.

The “brick house” at the Eddon Boat Park, built in 1926, will get a renovations as a community center. City of Gig Harbor The Gig Harbor City Council put the marine railways at the historic Eddon Boatyard back on track last week, approving a budget amendment that could make the city-owned facility a functioning boatyard again sometime in 2021. The amendment was introduced at the request of Mayor Kit Kuhn, who previously had raised questions about the project.

Sudden storm lashes Gig Harbor, leaves much of Key Peninsula without power

Stock photo Matt Gush Getty Images A lightning storm and high winds that blew through the Gig Harbor area Tuesday morning left a wake of downed power lines, toppled trees and at least one structure fire. As of early afternoon, much of the Key Peninsula was without power or internet service, which disrupted online learning among students of at least two schools. Strong winds were continuing in the afternoon, with some gusts reaching 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
