I've had well-meaning public officials tell me that the press should've exposed more than it did so as to force them to take action on something they clearly already believed to be wrong. That, to me, is troubling. Or to say, my phone is not ringing off the hook, so no one cares.
Applicable to local government and politics. Members of the @councilofdc increasingly put it on journalists to make the case for official action, in the face of signs that already should compel them to act. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy where they say, "I haven't seen enough."
Classic D.C. government behavior. No respect for the rule of law. I smell federal injunction. Some people never learn.
Whew. IMP advertising $$$, saved by the bell. ("Well, you know, Seth has 'stepped aside.'"
It really is a beautiful city in many ways.
