Biggest job gains in capital region in December were in hotels & food services (up 5,200) and education services (up 4,000) - easily enough to offset the sharp drop in federal government employment.
Statcan reporting number of fed gov jobs in the capital region fell by 5,600 in December vs November for new total of 128,900. That's the lowest since the summer of 2016. Tech employment was up 900 to 48,100.
