What does it mean to be a journalist?

At the heart of it all, we're storytellers. But we're held to a higher standard -- something I cherish about our role in society.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I want to tell stories that no one has told before. In this area, I tend to find those come from rural areas so often overlooked by media.

Why did you become a journalist?

I've always had a passion for telling people's stories. This profession is far better for it than my days as a junior high novelist wannabe.
