Television sports in Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Until my senior year in college, when we got a compute lab, I either wrote everything on a legal pad or typed it on a Smith Corona.
How is social media changing news?
We don't know the full result yet but like all disruptions, it's good for some & bad for others. It's great for the individual.
What's your favorite social network?
For work, no question it's Twitter. For my personal interest in landscape, home design, motorcycles and trucks - it's Pinterest.

Why did you become a journalist?
I don't consider myself a journalist; I'm really an opinion writer based on my career experience. I did, however, study to be a journalist.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, but I did write and illustrate for the yearbook. We didn't have a school newspaper.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I wrote a piece for Forbes about the financial collapse of Glasgow Rangers and a piece for the WSJ on CEOs who pursue social justice issues.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be yourself and have your own style. Research your subject more. Find a great copy editor.
What's your favorite drink?
My favorite non-alcoholic beverage is sweet tea. My go-to alcoholic beverage is Tennessee Whiskey.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Working in the yard or playing tennis/golf.

Wall Street Journal, National Review, Commentary.
