Thanks everyone. Maybe I can share something fun soon.
So you know, it’s ok to feel weird. It’s ok to feel not whole. It’s ok to think going back to work make you want to anxiety vomit! Be brave and do them. But you know, be kind to yourself.
I’m in the middle of this last part, and I have to say that the thing that has gotten me back to “normal” is to understand that I’m not even close to normal! I’ve learned to acknowledge my limits. And that’s what’s making this process work for me.
But then, you know, time passes and things begin to heal themselves and you inch closer to the way your life was before. But the idea of accepting it being “normal” again is anxiety-inducing in its own right. What if you delayed the processing? Have you done it enough?

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first paying job in journalism was working for my local alt weekly, Sacramento News and Review. It was also my first succesful pitch!

Social media is moving the news cycle into hyperspeed. It forces journalists to remain alert to constantly keep up, a tremendous task.

Being a journalist is about uncovering stories the world needs to see, and to educate readers on everything around them.
