@matthewstoller Taxing information services isn't mutually exclusive to other reforms. A right to be forgotten and a right to your own personal data is just as important.
@matthewstoller You can distribute the funds through a variety of stakeholders, divided through state and local institutions (like how ARD radio in Germany is governed). Or even individuals, ie journalism vouchers.
The answer to Facebook controlling the primary revenue source of all major news outlets isn't begging for a better FB algorithm, its to tax companies like Google and FB and use the money to fund journalism.
