Tom Cook married an artist, but he was an educator. “People would ask me about a work of art, and I would say, ‘I like what I see, but I can’t paint’,” Tom Cook said. That changed after he retired from Battle Creek Public Schools and Kellogg Community College. He took a painting class with his daughter at the Art Center of Battle Creek. When she died unexpectedly, the Art Center offered Tom a free class. “That’s what started it all,” Linda Cook said.
