It's tempting to look at Tesla as being a single unified company, but it actually isn't. Ever since it created Tesla Energy, a battery-storage business, a few years back, Tesla has been a holding company. Beyond Tesla Energy, there's Tesla solar, a result of merger with SolarCity in 2016. For now, these enterprises are all modest. But even if we zero on Tesla's largest business - cars - we don't see one company. We see two.
