The Cottage Gardener

Blogs
The Cottage Gardener Heirloom Seedhouse is a family owned and operated, farm-based seedhouse started by Mary and Dan Brittain. Established in 1996, The Cottage Gardener’s mandate is to provide rare, open-pollinated, non-GMO heirloom varieties to both home and market growers. Their daughter, Rachel, joined the family business in 2011 and, as well as having her fingers in a bit of everything, has particular responsibility for overseeing the filling and shipping out of orders. This is a major upgrade for her, considering that when she used to help her parents out at the seed shows, she would wear her own home-made name tag that jokingly stated: "I’m friendly, but useless. Ask my Mom." Though the "ask mom" rule still generally applies, the name tag has been retired for the time being. Their son, Adam, an urbanite, has just discovered the delight of growing his own food in his backyard and his green thumb continues to deepen in colour each year. Source
