Live jazz is alive and well in the Capital Region. For starters, there are a number of organizations that promote jazz in various ways. The oldest of these is A Place for Jazz (aplaceforjazz.org), founded in 1987. In spite of its name, APFJ is not really a place, but an organization whose programs include concerts, public workshops, school-based clinics, a jazz website, a scholarship program and general support of jazz and its musicians. APFJ is noted for its series of five concerts every fall.
