The business recorded sales of $2.3 billion which were up 2% while its organic produce net sales were up 1%. Volume sales for the business were down 4% to 1.2 billion lbs. Its first quarter earnings benefited from $63 million, or EPS of $0.12, in one-time tax events. Jim Snee, chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer said it was a “strong quarter”.
