The Metter Advertiser

Newspaper
The Metter Advertiser was first published in 1912 when the citizens of Metter, Georgia, began their efforts to form their own county. At that time, Metter was part of the much larger Bulloch County. Community leaders decided the best way to get their voice heard in the General Assembly was to start a newspaper, so the City of Metter became the first – and possibly the only – municipality ever in the history of America to own its own newspaper.
