More than 150 people joined a beach clean at Sand Bay at the weekend. The Marine Conservation Society organised the clean at Sand Bay on Sunday. The beach was packed with people picking up litter, which was mostly plastic. Cotton bud sticks – which are wrongly flushed down toilets – were among the common finds, along with needles. One person, who went for a beach clean in the afternoon, collected a washing up bottle sold before decimalisation, suggesting it was at least 46 years old.
