A merger two years in the making has been finalized. North Central Farmers Elevator and South Dakota Wheat Growers members voted to merge at the end of September. This year’s merger attempt was the second since 2015, but this time, leaders from both cooperatives say the overall agricultural economy contributed the most. According to president of the Wheat Growers board, Hal Clemensen, there were a total of 4,120 votes between the two co-ops. With 2,509 people voting yes and 1,611 voting no.
