Mark LaFountain, a stroke victim and a resident for 12 years, has raised concerns over accessibility in Whitecourt, specifically in the downtown area. LaFountain experienced a stroke in 2010 that resulted in loss of use for his upper left arm and part of his left leg. “My left leg is not what it should be. It’s very difficult to walk,” LaFountain said. “When the stroke first happened, I had to be propped up on the john.”LaFountain also described how having just one fully functional arm inhibits him.
