What was your first job as a journalist?

Self-employment columnist at Business in Vancouver more than a decade ago. Tough job emotionally in a recession.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I still have my Dad's Hermes from the early '60's. It takes such force to hit the keys that you'd develop visible musculature on your fingers

How is social media changing news?

Journalism is splitting into two divisions: The sourcing and research, like WikiLeaks, and the editorializing. We're only at the beginning.
